MERCHANDISE

Charles E. Moesch Jr. is a Chicago-based artist and has been painting and involved in artwork his entire life.  His formal education includes a degree from Eastern Illinois University in graphic design.  He owned his own advertising agency early on but moved away from advertising in order to pursue his painting.  His style is hyper-realism, which, in the art world, denotes artwork that, “looks just like photographs.”  Charles puts a twist on his artwork, however.  While he does use models and photographs, he also inserts a sense of surrealism and fantasy into his pieces.

Charles has pieces hung all over the country in private collections but shows primarily in the Chicago-land area.  His artwork has also been published in Better Homes and Gardens as well as on the front and back covers of book jackets.  He has been commissioned to do portraits.  His philosophy for his artwork is to pay attention to the smallest detail. By using these small details, he is able to convey a mood and emotion to the viewer.  He states, “Never being satisfied with the ordinary allows me to continue to grow and experiment with color, light, shadow, and the individuality of every-day people.”
